1. School, 1969-1974, Indianapolis, Marion Co, IN
While attending junior high, I began my love for art. It was
my 7th grade art class teacher, Mr. Mace, that inspired the
blooming creativity in me. His father and my grandfather were
good friends. He shocked me by calling out my last name the
very first day and pronouncing it correctly. No one ever pronounced
my name right. It was through his projects that inspired my
artistic abilities.
While attending Warren Central High School, I took the usual
courses that were required but I always left a spot available
to take some sort of art class. By my senior year, I had most
of the basic courses behind me and could concentrate on my
love for art. It seemed this entire year was all the various
art classes. My most favorite was the Special Art Class. This
class you had to compete for in order to be accepted. The
teacher gave us projects to do and then basically left us
alone to do them. I found this class to be the most challenging
as well as rewarding.
2. Baptism, 1972, Indianapolis, Marion Co, IN
I was baptized in Warren Hills Christian Church by a wonderful
man named Rev. Norman. He was the father of a school mate.
Always there to listen to the younger members of his church.
I'd have to say this was the church I felt the most at home
at.
3. Hobbies, Continuous, Henderson, Henderson Co, KY
I've enjoyed my art but I didn't start enjoying painting
ceramics until I moved to Kentucky. I had heard of a ceramic
shop that gave lessons and decided to give it a try. Not being
one to start off with the "easy" projects I chose
for my first piece an Indian statue. I love using acrylics
as this medium allows you to change your mind after the paint
dries if you don't like the way the piece turned out. Oils
are more versatile but I'm too impatient to work with them.
I enjoy astrology as I am a true Aries, quilting, collecting
old pictures, scrapbooking, working in my flower beds and
taking out quiet time to watch my precious hummingbirds.
Another hobby I have been blessed with is watching my grandchildren
grow and learn. It can be absolutely exhausting and frustrating
remembering babies come equipped with so many hands but I
wouldn't trade one minute with the kids for anything in the
world.
